Water deaeration
The treated beverage makeup water is sprayed into the vacuum vessel by means of a nozzle. This allows the gases dissolved in the water such as air and oxygen to be drawn off by means of an air cooled vacuum pump. By this method the residual oxygen content in the water will be reduced to values of 1 – 1.5 mg/l.
Blending
A digital ratio control sets the blending ratio between water and syrup. A flowmeter measures the water flow rate and transfers it to the control. From this master flow and the adjusted ratio the controller calculates the output signal for the syrup flow rate. The controller output sets the corresponding speed of the syrup pump using a frequency inverter. The syrup pump is designed as positive displacement pump whose flow rate is directly proportional to the speed. A flowmeter in the syrup pipe sends feedback of the real syrup flow rate. This allows the controller to monitor continuously whether the ratio is being maintained. The controller takes care of start/stop operation and gives a flow alarm should the ratio no longer be able to be maintained.
During production of Mineral Water the blending system is not activated. The unit operates purely as a deaeration and carbonation system.
Carbonation
A high pressure centrifugal pump pumps the deaerated water through the FAMIX carbonation and mixing unit. The aerosol effect of the injector draws CO2 into the liquid. In the mixing ball water, syrup and CO2 are homogeneously mixed together. This guarantees fine carbonation and optimum CO2 binding.
The CO2 level is controlled by the carbonation pressure in the product tank. A pressure-temperature ratio controller sets this pressure according to the required gas volume and the current product temperature.
An additional valve system allows the production of low or non-carbonated products and avoids foaming.
A pressure controlled pump feeds the finished product to the filler. The bottling pressure can be adjusted independent of the carbonation pressure.
The TurboDigi plants are generally designed for CIP and disinfection with correspondent cleaning programmes.
